Travel Day Part 3

Monday Morning December 7, 2009 - Yesterday morning we awoke to the sound of a very special alarm clock...the neighborhood rooster running around the block over and over again letting everyone know it was time to get up!  Got ready, ate a quick breakfast, brought our stuff downstairs, watched the rooster seriously run up and down the block as if he was alterting that the British were coming or something, hopped in the shuttle to go back to the airport.  We had some time to kill so in our wanderings we found a...Dunkin Donuts!  Yes we are embracing the culture and have yet to eat any non-Thai food, but lets face it, who can deny that D2 makes a great cup of coffee and sometimes after traveling for 3.5 straight days, a girl needs her good coffee!  Jumped on the next flight and off to the deep south we went.  The whole flight was spent with John and I trying to imagine what is going on in Wi's head right now.  (side note: Wi is Frank's Thai nickname that we will be using for the time being, slowly adding Frank onto the end and the hope is being able to use both once enough time and trust go by).  Does he know how many sleeps are left before mommy and daddy come? Is he mad that he has to leave? Is he scared and if so how scared?  What if he doesn't like us?  And not just because of the scary of situation he is about to go through, but as people he just doesn't care of us much?  Is he really excited to leave and is waiting patiently with his bags packed (figuratively of course).  Basically, our minds just running like crazy...So we arrive in Hat Yai, grab a cab and take the most death defying ride of my life.  John's knuckles were white from clenching his fists so hard and I was about two seconds away from throwing up everything I had eaten so far that day!
The hotel...Well we are 1-2 folks!!! The hotel is gorgeous and the staff is amazingly friendly, nice pool, clean room, clean bathroom...all of the needed things!  Around 1:30pm we unpacked a bit, ordered room service to split a plate of pad thai with the plan being to eat, get cleaned up, rest a little bit then go out exploring...it didn't quite happen like that...we finished eating around 2pm, decided to nap first and then woke up in the middle of the night sometime decided that the last two years of stress and excitment and anxiety were finally catching up to us, rolled over and went back to sleep!  5am monday morning, we have awoken after 15 hours of sleep and feel like completely new people!  So now we are getting ready, and promise not to spend another day in the room and are going to go wander around town, check out the beach, then come back and get ready to meet our son tomorrow!!!  More later, I have got to get out of this bed, pretty sure I may start getting bed sores...
Miss all of you terribly!
Love,
Nancy and John

Oh, I'm so glad the hotel is ok LOL. I haven't actually stayed there but we have been swimming in the pool etc. Now, didn't I tell you to rest up and everything would be fine!! Enjoy your last night together - tomorrow your lives will change forever!!! Yay!!

P.s If you get a crazy taxi driver again and he drives to fast, say cha-cha!!!!! Means slow down!

Also if you get in those little taxi vans that you get into the back of, don't pay anymore than 20 baht each around town ok. Agree on a price before you get in!

There is a little park across the road from the hotel at the beach - you might want to take Wi there for a little play although I think he will love swimming in the pool most of the time.
